The picture of people at the top of this post may appear as real human faces but they are indeed created using Artificial Intelligence. A website named ThisPersonDoesNotExist.com created by software engineer Phillip Wang allows easy access to AI generated faces right from your browser.
Phillip Wang, a software engineer who works for Uber used a new AI algorithm called StyleGAN to create this website. The creator of the website Phillip Wang had told Mashable that he created the site to create awareness for the algorithm. He also stated that it costs him $150 a month to hire out the server for running the website.
This website (ThisPersonDoesNotExist.com) displays AI generated faces every time you hit refresh.
Generative Adversarial Networks is a concept within machine learning which generates hyper realistic images that are indistinguishable from real ones.
Every time you refresh the website, an algorithm generates a realistic human face from scratch.
Philip Wang in his facebook post explains that every time we refresh the website, the AI uses a “512 dimensional vector” to generate a new facial image “from scratch.”
This website uses a class of machine learning algorithms known as Generative adversarial networks to create realistic human faces.
Computer scientist Ian Goodfellow and his colleagues were the first to introduce Generative adversarial networks in 2014 to generate realistic human faces.

Although AI generated faces look realistic, we can recognize these fake human faces using some parameters such as surreal backgrounds, Asymmetry, indiscernible text in the background, weird teeth, messy hair, and digital glitches.
